From the Southampton Direction

  • From the Southampton direction, follow the A337 from Lyndhurst through Brockenhurst to Lymington. Stay on the A337 as it turns west, as far as Everton.

  • Turn left onto the A3058 towards Milford on Sea, then immediately left again into Lymore Lane - take care: this is a narrow road! Follow this lane to Keyhaven.

  • When you arrive at the green, turn left then left again by the 'phone box. Keep on this road and follow it past the “The Gun” (pub) which is on your right.

  • Fifteen metres past “The Gun” is the entrance to a public car park on your left.

  • To reach the clubhouse, keep on the road for another 10 metres until it turns sharply to the right.

  • At the bend, there is a small road off to the left.

  • Take it and the clubhouse is immediately on your left.

There is no parking on this road so it’s better to use the public car park mentioned previously. The clubhouse backs on to this car park and can be accessed by a small gate at the south-east corner next to a boatyard.

From the Bournemouth Direction

  • Travel to Christchurch and follow the A337 through Highcliffe until you reach New Milton.

  • Take the B3058 from New Milton to Milford-on- Sea.

  • On arriving in Milford-on- Sea drive past the village green on your right and take the turning to the right immediately past the green. This road takes you into the centre of the village.

  • Keep on this road; it is quite narrow and congested with parked cars in places; until you reach Keyhaven.

Volunteering Opportunities

MAintenance.jpg

VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES
Hurst Castle Sailing Club is a self-help Club, which means it relies on member volunteers to keep it running smoothly. A recent look at who does what, identified more than 100 tasks that need to be done on-shore, in addition to those on the water such as crewing support boats, acting as Race Officers and leading sailing potters.
Many hands they say make light work. They also make it fun! This photo was taken at the end of one of our twice-yearly working parties. It was a cold, wet and windy November day. Over 10% of our members took part and we got lots done and enjoyed getting together. The lunch was good too!

HOW WE HELP
All members are encouraged to come forward and enter into the self-help spirit of HCSC. They can:

  • Join one of the Club Committees.
We have a General Committee, Sailing Committee, Social Committee and House Committee.

  •  Volunteer for Support Boat duties or be a Race Officer. Don’t forget, training is given.

  • Join the coffee Rota on a Tuesday.

  •  Suggest a social activity and make it happen.

  •  Join the grounds maintenance team.

  •  Join the Club boats maintenance team.

  •  Join the Club dinghy park team.

  • Just contact the Club Secretary (secretary@hcsc.org.uk) if you would like to get involved with a specific volunteer activity. Your help would be very welcome.

Commodore - February 2025
